Guest Post Wednesday: The Grant Life

It's Wed-nes-day! Today we have Kelley from The Grant Life sharing some menu planning tips which are super helpful and guess what? she even made a super cute printable for you all!
. . . . .
Hello Cinsarah readers!  {I am so humbled to be here today.. a big, huge thank you to the amazing Cindy for this awesome series!}  My name is Kelley and I'm a newbie blog who shares all sorts of crafty, foody, thrifty goodness over at The Grant Life.  Check it out if you got a sec ;)
I recently became at stay at home mom (yay!) to my two amazing kiddos, Ryley and Avery.  Can I let you in on a secret?  (shhhh..)  Being a stay at home mom is hard work!  Ok thats no secret but it was an adjustment going from working full time (and then some) to staying home.

One of the things I do to try and make my life a little easier is plan a weekly menu.  I know it may not sound like much but when your trying to feed a toddler, an infant and cook breakfast for the hubby.. it helps to know what to grab and get started.  Three simple ways to plan your menu are..

1. Make meals with what you already have.

Sounds easy right?  I start by jotting down what meat I have in the freezer and then toss around recipe ideas until I come up with one that doesnt require me going to the store.  This is my favorite way to create a menu because I do not enjoy going to the grocery store multiple times during the week.

2. Write it down.

I print out a menu planner each week and write down our meals.  (Just a fun fact.. I only plan breakfast and dinner each week.  Lunch is normally the same so I dont write it down.)  Its hard to remember what you thought about making if it isnt somewhere easy to find.  And for my printable debut.. I made a menu planner for y'all!  Its my first one.. but I love it!  I hung it in a photo frame in the kitchen and use it like a dry erase board.  Cool, huh?!

3.  Use previous menu plans.

They dont even have to be your own!  There are tons of meal planning sites out there that have tons of inspiration for breakfast, lunch and dinner meals.  Every Monday I post our menu for myself and for others.  Its a fun way to share my recipe ideas and get some great new ones.  Once you have planned your menu for awhile it should be easy to pull meals from previous weeks.

Well, there you have it folks.  My two cents on making mommyhood easier.  I hope you feel inspired to start your own menu planning!  Stop by The Grant Life every Monday to see what we are cooking.. and to share yours with my readers and me!

Thanks so much Kelley for your wonderful tips and the super cute printable!

What I Wore: Thanksgiving & Family Pictures

This is my second what I wore post and as you know from my first one I rarely do my hair or get dressed up cause I'm a stay at home mom and wearing cute clothes only to end up getting bleach, ketchup or "what is this?" stains on them is just not practical! Anywho on Thanksgiving I went for simple and comfortable and I didn't even end up wearing black! gasp!
Jacket: Old Navy, Top: Gap, Jeans: American Eagle,  Scarf: World Market, Boots: Ebay, Ring: Etsy

Here are a couple cute pics of the kiddos on Thanksgiving...
and some funny ones! (my son thinks he is a ninja)....
and we got one "good" family pic out of a couple we took...
I already replaced our old family picture on my About Me  page with this more recent one. We had a great Thanksgiving, I am so thankful for having such a wonderful family which I feel I take for granted sometimes. I loved that my husband had the whole week off but it went by too fast! He was awesome though! He took care of the kiddos one day while I went to help a friend re-upholster her chairs and then watch the new Twilight movie (yes I love Twilight!), he also watched the kiddos a couple hours when I went black friday shopping with my cousin and he helped wash the dishes 3 times this weekend! Ah I LOVE him!! I so do not deserve him but I am so thankful to God for him! :)

Shaklee Basic H Review & Giveaway!

Have you guys heard of Shaklee? I had read a little bit here and there from a couple different blogs but never really looked into it until I got an e-mail a couple weeks ago from Latoya who's website is Cleaner Greener Crib. She let me choose from 3 different cleaning products to review and I chose the BASIC H2® ORGANIC SUPER CLEANING CONCENTRATE. I received the bottle just in time to clean for Thanksgiving last week and I am so glad I did! I was running low on the multi-purpose cleaner I was using and it didn't really clean my mirrors all that well so I was excited to try this new cleaner and guess what? I LOVE it! I seriously do! I promise I will not post anything on my blog that I haven't actually tried and love! I couldn't believe how little of the product I actually had to use and mix with water to clean and it cleans so well! I used it to clean our hallway bathroom, our mirror was super dirty as you can see and after using Basic H the mirror is now super clean...
I also cleaned the sink, faucet & everything else in the restroom with it and I am super pleased! Here is a little vase I cleaned as well which was dirty and dusty...
and now squeaky clean...
Here is the bottle I received to review, and guess what?! 1 bottle of Basic H2equals the cleaning uses of 5,824 bottles of 26 oz. Windex®
All I did was use a couple drops into an old spray bottle and added water...
This is the little chart that comes on the bottle that I read and was amazed! I can't believe it only took a couple drops to get my mirror clean and streak free!
I am so happy with this product and I want to thank Latoya for letting me review it and now guess what?! Latoya is giving away five samples to my lovely readers!!
How awesome is that?

Here is how you can win:

Guest Post Wednesday: Maybe Matilda

It's Wed-nes-day!! Time for another fabulous guest!! Today we have Rachel from Maybe Matilda. I found Rachel's lovely blog at a link party (can't remember which one) when I started blogging and I immediately fell in love with her blog! She's funny, cute & a super crocheter! Today she is here sharing some fun color palettes for christmas decor. I have to let you all know that I personally do not celebrate christmas and I will not go into details unless you guys want me to or you can always just message me and ask. I know Rachel put in such wonderful work into this post and she didn't know I didn't celebrate christmas so I felt bad asking her to re-do a whole post for me cause I know how busy us mamas can be! However I know most of you do celebrate christmas so I'm sure you will enjoy this post! :)
. . . . .
Hi! I'm Rachel from the blog and etsy shop Maybe Matilda, where I love sharing my crochet, sewing, and home decor. I like to try and branch out of my norm for guest posts . . . sometimes I get stuck in a rut on my own, and I think of guest posts as a way to get out of my comfort zone and try something different from what I normally post about "at home."

I considered what I enjoy most about Cindy's blog--one thing I'm always inspired by is her use of color. Her designs showcase her beautiful sense of color--I always love seeing what shades she's used and how they work together!

So I thought, since I'm always inspired by her color choices, I'd share a few color palettes I love . . . for Christmas decor! I'm starting to set up and create some Christmas decorations at my house, and have had a lot of fun searching through images of beautiful Christmas decor and deciding what would work best at my house.
I love simple, icy colors in Christmas decor, like this beautiful green and silver display. You can keep it simple and classic by focusing on white and silver decor but add a fun punch with your favorite color--like the gorgeous lime green pictured above.
Sometimes the traditional red and green can feel a little cheesy--but it can still look sophisticated and beautiful by swapping out the deep hunter green for a brighter, happier shade, and keeping the reds bright and punchy.
Using various shades of one color makes for a huge impact and a very chic look--the pinks in this display have a vintage vibe and make beautiful decor.
Adding an unexpected color makes for a vivid and vibrant Christmas look--who would have guessed purple would make such a great holiday color? But when placed against a crisp neutral backdrop, the jewel-y purples in this room look just right.
My personal favorite (and the look I'm going for this year)--a clean and classic white Christmas. Although my home certainly won't compare to a Martha Stewart photo spread, I'll be sticking with white, silver, and cream colors in my Christmas decor. I love the simplicity and beauty of a palette of various crisp whites and icy silvers. I can't wait to create some new decor for my home this Christmas!

What colors are you planning to use in your decor this year?

Thanks for having me, Cindy, and I hope you'll all swing by and say hi!
. . . . .
Thank you so much Rachel for sharing these beautiful color palettes with us! :)

DIY Circle Scarf

I love scarfs, I don't buy many cause I'm cheap but I still love em! I have been seeing a bunch of pretty circle scarfs everywhere and as much as I want to buy one in every color I can't. So what did I do, I made one! I can't believe I didn't think of it! It wasn't completely my idea, I basically saw this post and got inspired so much I went to my closet, got out a top I bought at a garage sale that fit too big on me (I thought I would belt it) and made it into a circle scarf! It seriously took like 2 minutes (not even!) to make this...

Here is what I did... I just layed out the top and cut from armpit to armpit..
and I got this long rectangle piece....
That's it People!! I didn't even have to make a seam because this fabric doesn't fray! I'm so happy with my new circle scarf! I would love a couple colorful and striped ones too so I will be on the look out for old big shirts that I can cut up and make into scarfs! Here is a before and after...
BTW can you tell I love stripes? oh and the color black! You can see me wearing a striped tank in my profile photo to the right and this top (pictured above) is one of my favorites which I got from Gap for just $5! whoo hoo for sales! I have about 5 striped tops and a couple striped sweaters! They say horizontal stripes are not very slimming but I don't care, I still like em! :)

Let's talk about the new design & my craziness

I wasn't going to do a post on my new design because it's no surprise I change my design quite often. I thought I would write up a quick post though cause not only did Cinsarah Blog get a makeover but so did my business website Blessed Design Studio and my Etsy Shop which is currently on vacation mode.
I want to come up with a couple new prints and designs for the shop before I open it up again so it will take some time seeing as I am super busy right now with custom blog design but it should be up and running by the first week of December. I'm sorry if I am driving ya'll nuts with all the design changes! lol I don't know what's wrong with me but once I get that "I'm gonna make a little change on the blog" itch I can't stop and I end up re-doing the whole blog and this time I didn't just stop there, no, I had to go and change up my website too. Anyways I just want to apologize for my craziness! I can't help it!  The end..... for now ;)

Ps. Today is the last day to enter My Memories Suite Giveaway
