Garage Sale Find To Paint or Not to Paint?

I wanted to share  a small piece of furniture that I found at a garage sale for just $5! 
I have been wanting something just like this for my bathroom, under my new 
necklace hangers because I used to have ugly plastic drawers underneath
and I am sharing because I need your help! I don't know wether to paint it 
or leave it as is. I got the baskets at a garage sale for 50 cents each
and I am going to paint those for sure but am debating wether I should
paint the bookcase...

Please excuse the messy closet!! I have been wanting
to paint it and organize it like I did with my coat closet
but since it is a walk-in closet, I know it will take a while
plus it will take a good chunk of money! none of which I have
at this moment (time & money). 
I'm thinking yes, but if so what color?
white? I kind of want to go for something a little
more colorful! What do ya'll think?

    I would pull out a color from your bathroom to paint the shelves or go completely different and paint it your favorite color or you could paint it black...if it were in my bathroom I would paint it a robins egg blue (aka martha stewart blue aka tiffany box blue) It's my fav color...lol

    What ever color you decide to paint it I am sure it will look amazing!

    I LOVE IT! The best part... you only paid $5!!!! I'm really liking the teal and red color combo these days. I want to do my whole house in it but obvi can't :( So if you painted your shelf and baskets those colors...that may help fill the void I have :)

    Awesome find! I say paint it--but I do love transforming things like that! You could do a light blue or maybe yellow. You could also paint the baskets! So many possibilities! Have fun!

    I think if you painted it as the same color as the necklace hooks above it it'd really make those pieces all feel cohesive.

    I would paint it myself. Not sure of your bathroom or bedroom colors but I'm dying to paint something yellow or teal!

    If you're going to keep the necklace hooks black then I say black. Although I think that the combo would look really good in white (the hooks and the bookcase). And I'm curious to see what color the baskets end up! :-)
