I used to think the dollar store was only good for cheap party decorations or to get a cheap puzzle for my son. Boy was I wrong! I found these cute little wall baskets that I thought would look good for the wall in between the living room and dinning room. I bought 3 and a couple of flowers:
I ended up only using two of the baskets on the wall and plan to use the other one for my front door.
Here are my baskets now hanging on the wall between the dinning room window and kitchen:
Can you spot the tiny U.S Flag pin in this picture? My husband got it at his veteran's lunch last year and he decided the curtain was the best place to place it. These are the curtain panels I plan on replacing with something a little more colorful, I spotted some really nice fabric on my last IKEA trip and thought it would be great for the dinning room. I now have an excuse reason to go back to IKEA.
While on my little trip to the dollar store I found this cute little oil bottle:
I love it! Even the cashier asked where I found it! I really needed an oil bottle since we purchase our olive oil at Costco and it comes in a huge plastic container.
Here are some awesome projects with the dollar baskets I found while blog browsing.
Ms Not So Perfect made some lovely spring baskets for her front doors using the same dollar store baskets:
You can view her tutorial post Here
Leah at Living Life Crafty also made a cute spring door basket using the same dollar store basket:
You can read more about this basket Here
I plan on making a cute spring basket, like these two, using my leftover basket for my front door.
What dollar store goodies have you found lately?

Thanks for your comment on my blog . . . glad to know I'm not the only crazy one who likes the "ugly" dresses! And I LOVE what you did with the baskets! I was just at the dollar store this morning and saw cute little baskets but didn't really know what to do with them. This is a great idea!

The dollar store is great for inexpensive craft ideas! Your baskets are so pretty in the dining room. The last thing I bought was a mug to fill with hot cocoa mix and other goodies for a Christmas gift!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI did two of the same baskets for my spring decor. I used found sticks, painted eggs, dried moss and a banner to announce Spring and Easter. I think each basket cost me about $2 each! Love the Dollar Tree!
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at these very same baskets and wondering what I should do with them. Thanks for the idea, yours look AWESOME.

These are lovely! It's so frustrating, I see all kinds of darling dollar store crafts but when I go to any of the three around here I can never find the same stuff =( Anyhow I would love to have you share this at my VIP party this weekend =) http://designergarden.blogspot.com/2011/04/vip-party-10.html
ReplyDeleteI bought one of these too and just love the simplicity of them. I love how you hung yours. I made paper flowers and added a banner.

Love these and I might just have to go back. They would make great spring/easter gifts.
Love these especially the idea for the front door...I work part time at our local Dollar Tree, there are great things there but to me you have to really take time to look. I'll have to pick up these baskets today!
