I'm Back & A Giveaway!

 I am back! Well we actually got back monday but we had a huge set back with our A/C unit breaking down and here in Texas that means chaos! We have been eating/sleeping in our bedroom with a
small window unit we bought at Home Depot. We are having a whole new unit installed today so
hopefully by tonight we will be back to normal! I can't wait!

Anywho, I didn't take very many pictures of our vacation last week because I don't have
a camera. All the pictures you see on my blog are all taken with my handy dandy
Iphone! That is why most of the inside pictures are not the best quality. Here is a pic
I took of my kids while on vacation....

Aren't they adorable? Well I think so but they are my kids so of course I think that!

Anywho with all the bad news we have had getting back from our trip I have some good news!
I am giving away $25 in store credit to my etsy shop but to enter you must visit Ten June!!
I am very excited to be on Michelle's Awesome Blog!
I've been following for quite some time and love her beautiful home!
Comments on this post are welcomed but will not be considered an entry.
So head on to Ten June to enter!!

Be Back Soon!

Just a little note to let you all know you won't be seeing any posts from me this whole week until the week of July 25th! So stay tuned because as soon as we get back we are taking on that to-do list with some projects for our home! I already told my hubby as soon as we get back we are stenciling that wall I've been wanting to stencil!! :)

Also my etsy shop will be closed for the week! But I will re-open as soon as we get back!
Have a Wonderful Week!!

Temporary Solution for the Cubby Hole Nightmare

Do you all remember when I submitted my living room to Mandi's (Vintage Revivals)
Epic Makeover Contest? Well if you didn't you missed my cubby hole nightmare....
Our home came with this cubby hole (not the mess). I don't know if that's what it's called
but that's what I call it! I guess its where the tv is supposed to go which was ok back when
tv's were one big square box but now we are left with this awkward box that I have no idea
how to decorate. I have a couple ideas like adding two shelves painting it a nice blue
color and making it look like a built in bookshelf. It is one of the items on my to-do list!
But, until then I found these cute little baskets in a garage sale for $2/ea and I bought them
not really knowing where I would use them, I just bought them because I love baskets!
I know they still look messy, I basically just threw my mess in there but it's a temporary solution.
Please Ignore those ugly cables, I really want to take the tv down from the fireplace.
It looks tiny and off centered and the cables just make it look even worse!
So what do you think? I would appreciate any ideas for my cubby hole!!
What would you do if you had a cubby box like this in your home?

How to Remove Frames from your Pictures & Signature

I want to show you all something I learned a while back because I searched and searched everywhere to find the answer but I kept getting codes that simply did not work for me. This code worked for me and I hope it works for you too! :) FIY I use the Simple template from blogger. So here is what I'm talking about (I am using my sample blog for this tutorial)...
First go to Design>Edit HTML Hit Command + F (for Mac users like myself) or Control + F (for PC Users) then find this section of your HTML:  .post-body img
 Replace this:

.post-body img {
padding: 8px;
background: #ffffff;
border: 1px solid #fcfbf5;
-moz-box-shadow: 0 0 20px rgba(0, 0, 0, .2);
-webkit-box-shadow: 0 0 20px rgba(0, 0, 0, .2);
box-shadow: 0 0 20px rgba(0, 0, 0, .2);
-moz-border-radius: 5px;
-webkit-border-radius: 5px;
border-radius: 5px;

To this:

.post-body img {
padding: 8px;
background: none;
border: none;
border: 0;

Preview first to see if it worked for you before saving, if it did then hit Save Template! and you've got this...
Whoo hoo!! I hope this code works for you as it did for me!
I am not an HTML expert I simply found something that worked
and wanted to share with you all! :)
I will be sharing blogger tips from time to time!

Favorites Friday 7.08.11

It's Friday! I'm excited because we are just one week away from going on vacation!!
What will you do this weekend? I plan on going to buy things we still need for the
trip! whoo hoo shopping! if you know me, you know I love shopping!!

So here are this weeks favorites.....
1. I love this living room from That Country Place...

You need to check out this blog because she got her inspiration from
a magazine and actually made it happen!! Unlike myself
who just keeps adding things to her to-do list but not actually
doing anything! :/ I promise as soon as we get back
from vacation I will begin checking stuff off!

2.  I love this little bathroom transformation from J and J Home...

I love the bright yellow shower curtain!!
So cute! and that sink is beautiful!

3.  I LOVE the Amazing transformation that Mandi from Vintage Revivals
did for the winner of her contest (Jessica from My World Made by Hand)...

I'm sure you've already seen it if you are already Mandi's follower
but if you haven't then what are you still doing here? lol jk
But seriously you need to go to Vintage Revivals and prepare
to be amazed! :)

4. I love this navy blue wall! Found this on Pinterest....

I've been thinking about stenciling the wall in my dinning room
and I think this navy blue color with the stencil will make the room look so different!
Plus the wall is open and visible to the living room as well.
I will have to see what my hubby thinks about this one.

5. Found this one on Pinterest too....

I want to do something like this gallery wall for my living room except
my frames will be dark brown & white & I would like to add some small mirrors too
But the layout is what I like about this picture! :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Chicken with Spinach, Pears & Blue Cheese

    Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I want to share a delicious recipe I tried a couple weeks ago and yup it's from Whole Foods how did you guess? lol I love Whole Food's recipes all the ones I have tried so far have been excellent! I was hesitant at first about this one because I love blue cheese but I wasn't too sure how the sweetness of the pears would taste along with the strong flavor of blue cheese but let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised! This recipe is one of my faves now! It looks fancy and feels like you are out eating at a super nice restaurant yet it costs way less and tastes super yummy! If you love blue cheese you have to try this! Here is what you need...

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
-Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
-3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
-1/2 cup diced red onion
-4 to 6 cups (1 large bunch) loosely packed spinach (not baby), washed, dried, stems removed (I know it says not baby but I used baby spinach!)
-2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
-2 ripe Anjou pears, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices
-2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
-3/4 cup blue cheese crumbles
Preheat oven to 375°F. Generously season each chicken breast with salt and pepper.
In a large, oven-proof skillet heat 1 tablespoon olive oil and sear breasts 2 to 3 minutes each side until lightly golden. Place pan in oven and bake until chicken is cooked through, about 15 minutes.
While chicken is cooking, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large pan
over medium heat and sauté red onion until just softened, 2 to 3 minutes.
Add spinach and toss until wilted. Season with salt and pepper and transfer
 to a large platter or divide evenly between 4 plates.
Wipe out pan and heat remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil with vinegar.
 Add pears and gently heat until warm. Stir in parsley.
Arrange cooked chicken breasts on spinach. Top with warmed pear slices
and about 2 tablespoons blue cheese per breast.

My husband really liked this as well.
Let me know if you decide to try this recipe and what you think!
If you don't like blue cheese then don't try this without it!
The blue cheese really gives it a unique and wonderful taste! :)

Favorites Friday 7.01.11

Hello Everyone!! Favorites Friday is back after 2 weeks of being on vacation lol
If you noticed you are awesome!! and you get a virtual high five! lol (yes I know I'm a dork!)
 Anywho Have you noticed anything new?!? Oh yeah I got a new look!!
If you're a new follower this is what my blog looked like before...
Why? Just because! lol If you've been my follower for sometime now you've noticed my look
change from time to time but one thing has remained and those are the colors!
I love blog design and I love changing a little something here and there once in a while!
I just got tired of my old header and wanted to make it a little more simple and chic. :)
So what do you think? I would appreciate any feedback, I think I will keep this look....
for a while at least!

Let's begin this week favorites friday!! Shall we?

1. I am loving this yellow door from Timber & Lace

It's the perfect shade of yellow plus those gray walls just make the yellow pop!
Don't you just love yellow & gray together? I would love to do this but I'm not
sure my hubby would let me! lol But I did get a free quart of yellow Glidden paint
remember? So at least I can paint the guest closet! lol which I plan to turn into a little
work/desk area for myself one day...

2.  I am LOVING these colors together IDK where this pic
 is from I found it on Pinterest!
Our bedroom walls are a similar shade of blue and I've been wanting to decorate
 gray & white and shades of blue but never did I think about yellow!!
I will try and add some pops of yellow in my room!

3.  I am in LOVE with Glass lamps & drum shades right now!!
Also found this on Pinterest...
I want to make some for my room! yup you heard read that right make not buy!
I already have a glass jug from an apple juice we had bought
and I will buy another apple juice just to make another! lol
Hopefully it won't be too hard to make one since my hubby is an electrician ;)
And of course it is on the to-do list but hubby said we ain't doing anything on
the to-do list until we get back from vacation and we haven't even left! lol

4. How pretty are these vases from The Colorful Living Project ?
These make such a cute and inexpensive gift!! I love it! :)
I've bought these little sodas at Whole Foods (my fave!) before and just recycled
the bottles! I will have to pick up another 4 pack on our next trip and try this
cause they are so cute! :)

5. Check out this beautiful craigslist furniture makeover at Calculating Blessings
I love the color and the chalkboard doors are awesome!
You need to go visit Steph's Blog to see the before! :)

That's it for this week! I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!
